I replaced my handlebar grips and not only was this one of the best customizig pieces I did comfort wise, but it was also very easy to do. I knew that I would not be using the original grips again, so I gently cut them off with a razorblade, and the end caps practically just fall off. One side (can't remember which side) I took a flathead screw driver and gently tapped it with a hammer and it came right off. Good luck on your wife's bike!
